Day 3 and still going strong. The creativity of our members, now well practised in the art of banner making, know no boundaries.
We were delighted to be entertained by our own picket band

Elsewhere, 13 branches who did not meet the mandatory 50% threshold for strike actions are asking to be reballoted.
On twitter, we’ve been writing picket haikus and sharing them via #HaikuStriku. Additionally, UCU members are doing the important work of collecting and comparing institutional responses to the strike. Andrew Chitty has collated all institutional responses on how Universities will deduct pay from strike. The ‘benchmark’ clearly shows that Lancaster University’s decision to deduct all pay in a single month is NOT the only way, as other universities have agreed to spread deduction over few months.

In the afternoon, we shared a wonderful moment during our teachout, which grows in strength everyday. The theme of the day, Race inequality, was hosted by the staff-student Race Equality Network. We heard about exciting student projects doing great work, some of which the university should have done and isn’t. Students are mapping out the problems across campus to make them visible, creating infrastructure to connect projects together, so that students in need of support know who to contact. This was also an important reminder to academic and academic related staff to commit (or renew commitment) to take part in efforts to decolonise the curriculum.
